In Jharkhand, State Police has encircled about 150 naxals including its Area Commander Kundan Pahan in the Attri jungles in Khunti and Saraikela districts. 700 personnel of Jharkhand Jaguar force and district police are taking part in this operation which is still continuing. The operation is being led by DIG Arun Uraon in which the SSP of Ranchi and SP of Khunti are also taking part. Kundan Pahan and his group are involved in various sensational incidents in Jharkhand including killing of an MLA from Bundu Ramesh Singh Munda and police inspector Francis Indvar. Further details are awaited. In West Bengal, six Maoists including its top leader leader Siddhu Soren and one woman cadre were killed in an encounter with CRPF in West Midnapore district. The CRPF PRO Ajay Chaturvedi told AIR that the encounter which started at 9 PM last night ended at 4.30 Sunday morning. CRPF and 202 Battalion of Special Action Force and State Police took part in the operation. The security forces have recovered all six bodies and 12 weapons from the encounter site. One CRPF constable Ashish Tiwari also succumbed to his injuries received during the encounter.
