In Jharkhand, the naxalite today blew up a railway track near Posaita in Chakratharpur railway division of South Eastern Railway. However train services on Howrah – Mumbai route began after 7 hours. The 24-hour Maoist-sponsored bandh evoked mixed response in Jharkhand with its impact restricted to some rural pockets, besides affecting mainly the long distance vehiclular traffic across the state. The bandh was called to protest the arrest of PCPA leader Chhatradhar Mahato from Lalgarh area in West Bengal. In Orissa, the nation-wide bandh call given by CPI (Maoists)passed off peacefully, except some stray violence in Maoist-affected districts. The Maoists blocked Malkangiri-Koraput main road by cutting trees, while vehicular traffic came to a halt in Machkund-Lamtaput road of southern Orissa.
