J’khand: Maoists’ bandh evokes mixed response in Kolhan region

In Jharkhand, 48-hour bandh called by Maoists has evoked mixed response in Kolhan region, comprising East and West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharswan districts. The bandh was called in protest against police excess and the arrest of three senior Maoist leaders at Katihar in Bihar recently.Police said that road traffic was hit in the Kolhan region due to the bandh as long-distance buses and commercial vehicles remained off the road. Railway sources said that rail services remained unaffected.Meanwhile, two Maoists surrendered before the police with arms and ammunition in naxal-hit Palamu district today. Police said, the surrendered Maoists have been sent to jail.
