The Unified Command in Jammu and Kashmir has decided to remove 16 bunkers of security forces from Srinagar and release 50 stone-pelters detained during recent protests in the Kashmir valley. The Unified Command, which met in Srinagar yesterday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abudullah, decided to initiate a slew of confidence building measures in pursuance to the Centre's eight point formula for the State. It also decided to constitute two committees of senior civil and army officers to identify those areas of the state from where Disturbed Area Act can be withdrawn. AIR Srinagar correspondent reports that the announcement of these measures was preceded by an impressive public rally in Ganderbal which was addressed by the Chief Minister where he lashed the separatist leaders for negative politics.
