'J&K: Two militants killed as Army foils infiltration bid in Kupwara

In Jammu & Kashmir, two militants were killed while two jawans sustained splinter injuries, when Army foiled an infiltration bid in Tangdar sector in Kupwara district. A group of heavily armed infiltrators, tried to infiltrate during intervening night of July 22 & 23 into this side of LoC near forward Eagle Post along the Line of Control in Tangdar in Kupwara, around 160 Kms in north of Srinagar headquarters. <br/><br/>Army spokesman in Srinagar told AIR that the fierce encounter triggered between soldiers and the militants led to killing of two unidentified militants. Two militant bodies and two AK 47 Rifles, two rucksacks and other items were recovered from the spot. <br/><br/>Two army personnel including an Army officer sustained splinter injuries and recuperating at Army Base Hospital in Srinagar. SP Kupwara Ajaz Bhat told AIR that the search and sanitization operation is continuing in the area.<br/><br/>Pertinently, during past around two months a total of twelve militants and five soldiers have been killed in five encounters that followed infiltration bids in North Kashmir's Kupwara and Baramulla districts. This also includes Eagle Post encounter killings.

In Jammu and Kashmir, two militants were killed, while two Army personnel including an officer sustained splinter injuries, when Army foiled an infiltration bid in Tangdar sector in Kupwara district. An Army spokesperson told AIR that a group of heavily armed militants tried to infiltrate into the Indian side of LoC near forward Eagle Post on Wednesday night. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag cancelled their visit to Drass in Kargil for paying homage to 1999 Kargil war heroes due to inclement weather.
