J&K: Two civilians killed when army opened fire on violent protesters

Two civilians were killed when the army opened fire on a group of violent protesters in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir today. The protesters pelted stones on a security force convoy passing through Ganaupura village in the district. <br/><br/>A statement issued by the Defence spokesman in Srinagar this evening said that the army was constrained to open fire to prevent lynching of a Junior Commissioned Officer who was hit on the head and suffered serious injury. The statement said that the mob tried to stanch his weapon and set the vehicles on fire.
