In Jammu and Kashmir about 60,000 old persons would be brought under the ambit of Old Age Pension Scheme and its implementation will start soon as the matter has already been examined by the central government. This was stated by J&K Minister for Social welfare Ms. Sakina Itoo Maha. She said that 65,700 beneficiaries including women and children were provided relief under various social welfare and ICDS schemes. The Minister informed that 28,000 anganwari centres are functioning in the state adding that a proposal for opening of 6,000 more Anganwari centres have been submitted to the centre for approval. Ms. Itoo said that the Coalition Government would leave no stone unturned to meet the urges and aspirations of the people especially belonging to weaker sections and below poverty line.
