<span style="color: #222222;">In Jammu & Kashmir, five security forces personnel and as many civilians lost their lives in multiple snow avalanches during past 48 hours at different places in north Kashmir's Kupwara and central Kashmir's Ganderbal districts.<br />'' <br />'' The snow avalanches were triggered following heavy snowfall in higher reaches including areas along LoC in north Kashmir.<br />'' <br />'' Security sources said, a heavy snow avalanche hit forward post along LoC in Machhil sector in frontier Kupwara district.<br />'' <br />'' Four personnel after getting buried under the snow avalanche died while several soldiers were rescued in the subsequent operation. The rescue operation is continuing in the affected areas hit by avalanches.<br />'' <br />'' In another incident in Nowgam sector of Kupwara district, a BSF forward post came under snow avalanche killing one BSF jawan.<br />'' <br />'' A senior police official said, five civilians died in yesterday's snow avalanche in Gund Kullan locale of Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district.<br />'' <br />'' Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) has issued low-level avalanche warning till tomrrow evening for various areas including Leh.<br />'' <br />'' Reports said, about two dozen houses and cowsheds, besides other structures were damaged in snow avalanches in Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla districts.<br />'' <br />'' Meanwhile, there has been a respite following improvement in the weather conditions and temperatures across the Jammu and Kashmir after two days of widespread rain and heavy snowfall.<br />'' <br />'' Bright sunshine emerged in Kashmir region following incessant rains and snowfall since Sunday.<br />'' <br />'' Met Department said, it will stay better for the next 48 hours.<br />'' <br />'' Srinagar recorded a low of minus 2.7 Celsius while ski resort Gulmarg settled at minus 9.5 Celsius and Pahalgam recorded minus 7.6 Celsius.<br />'' <br />'' Leh town in Ladakh settled at minus 5.5 Celsius.<br />'' <br />'' Officials said, all morning flights from and to Srinagar Airport were cancelled as the landing of flights could not take place due to accumulation of snow on the runway.<br />'' <br />'' The afternoon flights are likely to be operated on account of improvement in weather.</span><br />
