<span style="color: #222222;">In Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory Administration has taken various initiatives to implement uninterrupted Mid-Day Meal Scheme for government school children amid lockdown in view of COVID-19 pandemic. AIR correspondent reports that to make the scheme more successful and result oriented, the Administration is providing Food Security Allowance to the children.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Under the scheme, School Health Card Programme has also been launched by Lieutenant Governor G. C. Murmu on 6th of March, to improve the health and overall well-being of over 12 lakh students enrolled in various government schools across the UT. The distribution of these cards started today in both Jammu and Kashmir Divisions. Meanwhile, in view of the closure of the schools, dry rice for two months was directly given to the children, while the cooking cost is being deposited in their bank accounts.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">To ensure uninterrupted benefits to the targeted lot, 5,823 metric tonnes of food grains have been distributed among 8.29 lakh children for 60 days. An amount of 14.47 crore rupees @ 4.97 rupees per day per child for Primary and @ 7.45 rupees for Upper Primary level children for one month has been released which will be credited to the bank accounts of eligible children through DBT mode. Further, Food Security Allowance would also be disbursed to students even during the approaching summer vacations as a part of COVID-19 Initiatives. Similarly, Grants amounting to 6.66 crore rupees, on account of honorarium @ 1,000 rupees per month per cook-cum helper, has been released for disbursement in favour of 29, 987 cook-cum helpers.</span><br />''
