Suspected militants attacked the residence of a senior police officer in Kulgam district, a third such incident in the past three days in the Kashmir Valley. However, the attack on the police officer's house came hours after a local Hizbul Mujahideen militant, a resident of Yaripora Kulgam, was killed in an encounter with security forces in central Kashmir district of Badgam yesterday.<br/><br/>Official sources said, a group of heavily-armed ultras entered the house of Superintendent of Police SP, presently posted in Srinagar, at village Khudwani in Kulgam district late last night. <br/><br/>The militants had beaten up father of the SP, damaged window panes and ransacked the house before firing in the air and escaping under the cover of darkness. <br/><br/>Immediately after the incident, security forces and state police personnel rushed to the area and conducted searches but the militants had managed to escape.
