J&K State Sports Council tightens noose against 'defunct' associations

In a bid to make sports bodies more active and regular in holding annual activities, Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council has started initiating action against "defunct" associations. A senior sports official told UNI in Jammu that out of 54 sports bodies and associations recognised and affiliated with the State Sports Council, some are completely non-performers. He said, the process of seeking detailed report from the non-performers on their annual functioning has started.Initially, notices have been served to J&K Kabaddi Association and J&K Wrestling Association for not holding elections on scheduled period besides holding their regular activities. He further said the funding vis-a-vis financial assistance to the associations other than defunct one, is also suspended unless, the sports bodies does not submit a detailed report and clear about the working of past three years.
