Defence Minister A K Antony said there have been considerable improvements in the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and it is time to give state police greater responsibility to tackle terrorism, especially in towns.<br/>AIR Jammu correspondent reports that while addressing troops at Satwari Cantonment in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, Mr Antony said that on the request of the Defence Ministry, the Home Ministry has issued instructions to the CRPF to take over the entire responsibility of opening up of roads on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway from 15th January this year.<br/>Earlier, Defence Minister reviewed the security situation of the State particularly Jammu division at Unified Headquarters Meeting held in Jammu on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and was attended by top Army brass including Army Chief Deepak Kapoor, Defence Secretary, Pradeep Kumar besides representatives of State Police and Central Para Military Forces.
