J&K: Seven Amarnath pilgrims killed in militant attack in Anantnag district

In Jammu and Kashmir seven Amarnath pilgrims, five of them women, were killed in a militant attack in Anantnag district of Kashmir valley. Police said the militants attacked an armoured car of the police at Batangoo tonight .When the police fired back,the militants fled away firing indiscriminately. <br/><br/>A bus carrying pilgrims was on the highway when the incident occurred . In the firing by militants, seven pilgrims, five of them women, were killed. As many as 11 others, including three police personnel, were also injured in the attack.<br/><br/>The bus had come from Sonamarg. The pilgrims were on their way back after visiting the Amarnath shrine. Security forces and state police personnel have been rushed to the area and a massive search operation has been launched. Further details are awaited.
