J&K: Search ops launched in Bandipora after reports of militant presence

In Jammu & Kashmir, the ongoing joint cordon and search operation by security forces was launched in north Kashmir's Bandipora district early morning today. The operation was launched after specific intelligence reports established the presence of militants in the area. <br/><br/>Reliable official sources told AIR that acting on a tip off a joint team of Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police and Army launched cordon and search operation in Khosa Mohalla of Hajin Sonawari area in the district. <br/><br/>They said there was initial firing in the area. However, full fledged operation to flush out two to three hiding militants was yet to start till last report came in. Reports said clashes erupted between security forces and the local protesters, in the adjascent area. <br/><br/>Reports of stone pelting were received from the area. Army sources said Police and CRPF were engaged to chase away the protesters. The clashes more or less affected the operation in the area. No report of any death or injury from either sides was reported till now.
