J&K: Sarita Chauhan reviews progress of implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006

<span style="color: #222222;">In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Commissioner- Secretary of Forests, Ecology & Environment Department Sarita Chauhan today reviewed progress of implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006 across the Union Territory.<br />''<br />''Our correspondent reports that the meeting was attended by PCCF and other senior officers of the department. During the meeting, each of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) reported about the number of claims received by the Forest Rights Committee (FRC) at Gram Sabha, Block and Range-level and status on verification by the Forest Rights Committee. <br />''<br />''The Commissioner-Secretary directed the DFOs to prepare a detailed action plan with requisite records and maps and coordinate with Deputy Commissioners and Sub-Divisional- level Committees for conduct of the process of verification by the Forest Rights Committee and putting the same before the concerned Gram Sabha for its decisions. She asked them to expedite putting of the cases before District-level Committees after taking necessary resolution from Gram Sabhas. <br />''<br />''She further directed the DFOs to take initiative to reach out to Deputy Commissioners and officials of the Revenue Department for expediting the process and ensure that claims are processed and disposed off immediately. A mock drill was also carried out on receiving and processing of claims at every level wherein each and every stage from receiving claims to putting it before District Committees for the clear understanding of all.</span><br />
