<span style="color: #222222;">In Jammu & Kashmir, Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production and Horticulture Navin Kumar Choudhary today convened a meeting to review the physical and financial achievements of Agriculture & Horticulture departments.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">   </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that Director Agriculture & Director Horticulture briefed him about the present status of various schemes and projects of the department besides highlighting physical and financial achievements. He was apprised that harvesting of wheat crop was made possible on an area of 2.30 Lakh hectare by putting more than 300 harvesters cum binders in operation. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Besides, 12,032 samples of soils have been collected out of which 7,188 samples were analyzed and 3,902 Soil Health Cards have been distributed to the farmers. 19,041 quintals of HYV seeds including paddy, maize, pulses and fodder have been distributed to more than 1,84,000 farmers. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">5.22 lakh families have been registered under PM-Kissan scheme out of which 5.03 lakh have been linked with KCC scheme. Director Horticulture appraised that the total geographical area is 26,29,300 hectare out of which 1.18 lakh hectare area is under fruit crop. Walnut, Mango, Apple, Pear and Lemon are major fruit crops and 83% of total revenue comes out of these crops. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Navin stressed on exploring new and scientific farming techniques for value addition of agricultural products adding that adoption of such measures will help to improve the condition of farmers by getting fair and better remunerative price for their produce. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He also emphasized on making a strategy for marketing of fruits and other agriculture products and put in more efforts for its value addition. He asked the officers to lay more focus on organic farming and Aloe-vera plantation and stressed to expedite the process for getting funds released under Centrally Sponsored Schemes.</span><br />''
