In Jammu & Kashmir, Police detained over 230 persons including separatist leaders, activists of separatist outfits, former militants and other sympathisers in the past five days in the run up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state on Saturday. <br/><br/><br/>The arrests have been made from Central Kashmir's Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal besides North and South Kashmir districts. Senior separatist leader Nayeem Khan who was evading arrest, was also detained yesterday evening. The police action comes in the wake of 'Srinagar Million March' announced by Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani. <br/><br/>Separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have been placed under house detention while JKLF chief Yasin Malik is lodged at police station Kothibagh in Srinagar. There are strict directions to police to detain all those who are believed to try and disrupt the Prime Minister's rally. Independent legislator from north Kashmir's Langate constituency Er Rasheed was yesterday detained and lodged in North Kashmir's Handwara police station in Kupwara district.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, security has been strengthened across Kashmir valley and Srinagar in particular to prevent any untoward incident ahead of PM Modi's Kashmir visit. The venue for the Prime Minister's rally — Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium — has been turned into a virtual fortress with a large posse of police and paramilitary personnel deployed in and around the area to secure it.<br/><br/><br/> Police is also closely monitoring social networking websites. This will be PM Modi's first rally in Kashmir Valley after Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and BJP alliance assumed power in the state on 1st March this year.
