The panchayat polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held during September and October to transfer power to the people at grass roots.<br/><br/>Chief minister Omar Abdullah announced thsi while addressing a grand garm sabha convention in Srinagar today. <br/><br/>He said, the panchayat polls were due in 2006 but could not be held for various reasons all these years. The last time such polls were held in the state after 20 years in 2001.<br/><br/>The chief minister's announcement of panchayat polls were greeted by the people.
