J&K: Pakistani forces resort to heavy shelling, firing along LoC

In Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani forces again resorted to heavy shelling and firing along the Line of Control in Rajouri district today. <br/><br/>Defence Spokesperson Lt. Col.Manish Mehta told AIR Jammu that Pakistani troops started unprovoked firing in Nowshera sector targeting border posts and civilian areas around 10:30 this morning. <br/><br/>Later, around 2 PM, Pakistani Army also opened fronts in adjoining Sunderbani sector. Pakistani forces shelled Indian areas using heavy mortars, automatic and small arms.<br/><br/>Indian Army guarding the borderline retaliated and gave a befitting reply to Pakistani shelling. Intermittent exchange of fire continued till this evening. <br/><br/>No report of any causality or injury to Indian side. <br/><br/>Earlier, on Thursday night, Pakistani forces had resorted to shelling and firing in Pallanwala, Balakote and Manjakote sectors in Jammu, Poonch and Rajouri districts.

There is no report of any causality or injury to Indian side so far.<br/><br/>AIR Correspondent reports since the Indian forces' surgical strike in PoK in September, Pakistani forces have resorted to over 120 incidents of firing and shelling along the Line of Control and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir.<br/><br/> 25 people have been killed while over 50 others have been injured in the recent cross- border firing in the State.
