J&K: Pak Army violates ceasefire again; Resorts to unprovoked firing in R S Pura Sector

In Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan Army again violated ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked firing last night along International Border in R S Pura Sector in Jammu district.

One civilian has been injured. Defence sources told AIR that Pakistan Army targeted forward Pittal post in Arnia sub sector around 9:50 P.M. Later, around 1:45 A.M., Pakistani forces again targeted Pittal, Chinaz and Tent Guard Border Outposts (BoPs).

From around 2 A.M., other seven BoPs namely Kotkubba, Budhwar, S.H. Way, Jabbowal, Chowni, Bulachak and Nikkowal of 192 Bn BSF, were targeted which lasted till 6:50 am today.

Sources confirmed that Pakistan Army used small and automatic weapons to which Indian troops retaliated effectively with similar caliber weapons.

No casualty from this side has been reported till reports last came in. However, one middle aged civilian Attar Singh of Pindi Kadwal village in Arnia sub sector was injured who after providing first aid at PHC Arnia has been shifted to Govt Medical College, Jammu for further treatment. Some cattle are reported to have been killed and few residential houses partially damaged.

This was the ninth ceasefire violation in the past around 10 days. Eight ceasefire violations by Pakistan were witnessed in July. The continued targeting of Indian Forward posts is being seen by Defence analysts as an attempt to create an atmosphere of fear psychosis in the state.

Political observers had expressed optimism that goodwill gestures like handing over of BSF jawan Satyasheel Yadav by Pakistan Rangers and also gestures of exchanging greetings and sweets between armies of both the countries on occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Independence Days of both the countries, would go a long way in building and sustaining peace and mutual trust for the welfare of common people in the sub-continent.
