In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, one terrorist was gunned down in a fierce gunfight with security forces in Meej Pampore area of Awantipora in Pulwama district in the wee hours today. <br />'' <br />''Police sources said that a joint team of Pulwama police, Army's 50 Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force launched a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in the area based on the intelligence input about the presence of terrorists there. <br />''<br />''He said that when security forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them, triggering, a gunfight that resulted into the elimination of the terrorist. The identity of the slain terrorist is being ascertained.   Meanwhile, one terrorist was also killed in another encounter in Shopian district. <br />''<br />''The gunfight erupted after a joint team of Shopian Police, Army's 44RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Bandpawa area and were fired upon by the terrorists. <br />'' <br />''Operation in both the areas is still underway till the last reports came in.
