J&K: One militant killed as search operations in Kupwara enters 11th day

In Jammu & Kashmir, the ongoing joint anti militancy operation of army, para commandos and Special Operations Group (SOG) of State Police is in progress since 13th of this month to track down hiding terrorists of an infiltrator group in the north Kashmir's Manigah forest area in Kupwara district. Similar operation in Rajwar forest area of Handwara in the same district is also in progress since late Saturday evening with no report of any loss of life or injury on either sides.<br/><br/>Talking to AIR, an Army spokesman confirmed that an unidentified militant was killed in the operation till now. His body was recovered along-with weapons and ammunition. Yesterday, a Lt Colonel of 160 Battalion of Territorial Army sustained bullet injuries when forces personnel were fired upon by the hiding militant group after it was intercepted in Haji Nakah Manigah forest area of Kupwara district. Two more militants are reported hiding in the forest areas. <br/><br/>A group of 4 militants is believed to have infiltrated into this side of Line of Control on 31st of last month. One militant reportedly died due to chilling cold after infiltrating into this side of LoC. Commanding Officer Santosh Mahadik died last Tuesday in a fierce encounter in the Manigah forest area. 5 Army personnel and a cop of Special Operations Group of J&K Police have been injured till now in the operation.
