The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has stressed the need for resolving Kashmir issue through peaceful political means. The party working committee, which met in Srinagar on Thursday, passed a resolution to this effect. It says that Jammu and Kashmir is essentially a political issue and needs to be settled politically. The resolution says, the party favours restoration of autonomy under constitutional frame work as a best solution for the problem. The Working Committee also expressed deep soorow on the loss of human lives in recent incidents in the valley and urged the Government to minimise the mysery of affected families by providing them adequate exgratia relief. It also stressed the need for release of political detenues in the State. The meeting was chaired by Party President and Union Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and besides other senior leaders, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah also participated in the meeting that lasted for several hours.
