J&K: Midday Meal Schemes Dept contributes by addressing nutritional requirements of poor students in govt schools

In Jammu and Kashmir,  different departments have been relentlessly reaching-out to the people to mitigate their hardships due to prevailing lockdown in the wake of Cornavirus scare. Midday Meal Schemes Department of J&K has also contributed significantly by addressing the nutritional requirements of the poor students enrolled in the government schools of Jammu & Kashmir. The Department provides 100 grams of food grains to primary level students every day whereas 150 grams of food grains are provided to the students enrolled in the upper-primary.<br />'' <br />'' AIR correspondent reports, Mission Director, Midday Meal Scheme, J&K Dr. Arun Manhas has said that amidst the lockdown imposed due to Covid-19 pandemic, the Department in league with Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs distributed dry ration under Midday Meal Scheme to around eight lakh students in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.<br />'' <br />'' According to him, 4,42,768 students were given dry ration in Jammu Division whereas 3,59,718 students were given dry ration in Kashmir Division. Besides, Bank Account details of the students have also been obtained for transferring the cooking component amount of Midday Meal Scheme to these students through Direct Benefit Transfer Mode. It is pertinent to mention here that Midday Meal Scheme is aimed to improve the nutritional status of the children from classes First to Eighth besides encouraging the poor children to attend the schools on regular basis. <br />''  <br />
