J&K LG G C Murmu condemns brutal killing of sarpanch Ajay Pandita

<span style="color: #222222;">In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu has condemned the brutal killing of a sarpanch Ajay Pandita by terrorists in Lok Bhawan in Anantnag district. He has called it a cowardly act of terrorists and said that the attack on any public representative is an attack on the democratic set up.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said that those behind the killing are the enemies of humanity and has directed authorities to spare no efforts in bringing the culprits to justice. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members of Ajay Pandita. Ajay Pandita, a Kashmiri Pandit Sarpanch of the Larkipora area of Lok Bhawan in Anantnag district was shot dead by terrorists in his native village on Monday evening. His last rites were performed yesterday at Jammu. He had returned to his native place in south Kashmir and got elected as Sarpanch after participating in the Panchayat elections.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Widespread protests were held at Jammu by the people particularly the Kashmiri Pandits against the brutal, innocent and inhuman killing of a Kashmiri Pandit Sarpanch and burnt the effigies of Pakistan as a mark of protest. Many Kashmiri Pandit organizations widely condemned the incident and said that they were enormously worried about the security of the minorities presently putting-up in the Kashmir Valley especially the employees of Kashmiri Pandit Community working there.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile,  All Jammu & Kashmir Panchayat Conference have condemned the killing of Ajay Pandita and have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately provide security to the Sarpanchs and Panchs in Jammu and Kashmir.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The President of the Panchatat Conference, Anil Sharma said that the killing of the Sarpanch has apparently shown that terrorists are targeting the elected Panchs and Sarpanchs so that a strong base of democracy is weakened in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. </span><br />
