J&K launches Free Hospital Services for pregnant women

Jammu and Kashmir Government has launched 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' Free Hospital Services for pregnant women and children of the state. J&K Minister for Health Mr. Sham Lal Sharma announced the launch of this scheme on the eve of Republic day. The Scheme provides free hospital services to all pregnant women and children up to the age of 5 years. Under the scheme, no user charges will be taken from the pregnant women and children up to 5 years of age in government health care institutions providing primary and secondary healthcare, such as sub-centers, Primary health Centers, Community health centers and District Hospitals. About 2 lakh pregnant women and 22 lakh children will be benefited every year by the scheme. With a view to strengthen the healthcare delivery system and to provide better healthcare to the people at their doorsteps, State Government also decided to increase the honorarium for ASHA’s from 1400 rupees to 2250 rupees.
