In Jammu and Kashmir, a complete shutdown was observed in Katra town and along the Vaishno Devi track by people today against the proposed move of the Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board to construct a ropeway project. People gathered outside the headquarters of the Shrine Board at Katra and submitted a memorandum alleging that once this Ropeway project gets functional after its completion, it will render a lot of people associated with the yatra unemployed. It may be mentioned here that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) recently approved a 250 crore rupees passenger ropeway project between Tarakote Marg to Sanji Chhat along the 12-km track to the revered shrine.
