In Jammu and Kashmir, about 104 crore rupees have been spent under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) in both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions of the State, over 74 crores under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) and 134 crores for Model Village construction in the State. <br/><br/>This was revealed at a high level review meeting of Rural Development Department in the state at Jammu chaired by State Minister for Rural Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that, reiterating Jammu and Kashmir Government’s resolve to decentralize powers to the grass roots level to ensure their participation in various developmental schemes, the Minister asked the officers to gear up for Panchayat elections to be held soon.
