In Jammu and Kashmir, the Hill Kaka Day was observed at Kalali Morah on 27th May 2023, Saturday, in the Surankote area of Poonch district to commemorate the martyrdom of civilians and army soldiers in an anti-terrorist operation in the year 2003.<br />''<br />''Our Jammu Correspondent reports that 45 civilians and 35 army soldiers were martyred in an operation when the army with locals launched Operation Sarvinash in 2003 to eliminate more than 100 terrorists from Hill Kaka and its adjoining areas in the border district Poonch. To commemorate the martyrdom of civilians and army soldiers, Hill Kaka Day is observed every year in which administration, army officers and people of the area participate. Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin Choudhary, SSP Rohit Baskotra, senior Army officers and elected representatives were present on this occasion who paid homage to martyrs of the 2003 operation. Meanwhile, DC Poonch also conducts an extensive tour of this far-flung area to check the developmental works.<br />
