J&K heading towards hung Assembly, indicate tends

In Jammu and Kashmir, trends from 85 constituencies in the 87- member assembly are available. The trends so far indicate that the state is heading towards a hung assembly as no party appear to be nearing the majority of 44 seats to form the new government. PDP is leading in 23 constituencies; BJP in 22; National Conference in 17; Congress-16 and others are leading in 7 constituencies.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of National Conference is leading in Beerwah while he is trailing in Sonawar constituency by 2,881 votes. PDP leader Mufti Mohammed Sayed is leading in Anantnag constituencies by a margin of 2,569 votes.

Sajjad Gani Lone of JKPC is leading in Handwara Assembly seat while Dr.Krishan Lal of BJP is leading in Chhamb constituency by over 13,000 votes. Sitting MLA Tara Chand of Congress is trailing in this constituency. Ghulam Nabi Lone of PDP is leading in Chrar-i-sharief by a margin of over 1,500 votes. PDP candidate Aijaz Ali Khan is leading in Uri constituency. In Kargil, Congress candidate is in the lead while in Zanskar constituency, an Independent has taken early lead.

In Jharkhand, out of 81 constituencies, trends are available for 78 constituencies, BJP is leading in 37 constituencies, Congress in 2 constituency, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in 19, Rashtriya Janta Dal in 3, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha in 9, All Jharkhand Students Union in 4 and others in 4 seat.

JMM candidate and Chief Minister Hemant Soren is leading in Barhait constituency while he is trailing in Dhumka where BJP candidate Lois Marandi is ahead of him. Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda is leading in Saraikela seat. JMM candidate Niral Purty is leading in Majhganon seat against his nearest rival Jai Bharat Samta Party leader and former Chief Minister Madhu Kora by over more than Ten thousand votes . BJP candidate Chandreshwar Prasad Singh is leading in Ranchi Constituency by over fourteen thousand votes against his nearest rival JMM candidate Mahua Maji. JVM candidate Babulal Marandi is leading in Dhanwar constituency. RJD candidate Ram Chandra Singh is leading by a margin of more than five thousand nine hundred votes against his nearest rival BJP candidate in Manika seat.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed confidence that BJP will form the government in both Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir. He was reacting to early trends.
