The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to set up two artificial dams in the border district of Kathua as part of its efforts to promote recharging of ground water. State Minister for Forest and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmad said in Jammu, the dams are being constructed at Dabbi and Phangeri areas of the district at a cost of 39 lakh rupees. He said, a sum of 17 lakh rupees has already been spent over the project. Once completed, the dams will facilitate necessary supply of water to the fields, apart from providing drinking water facilities to nomads and their livestock, besides the wildlife habitation.
