<span style="color: #222222;">Jammu and Kashmir government is taking a slew of measures to check corruption in medical sector. This was disclosed at a meeting chaired by Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo, to discuss an action plan to check corruption in medical field. During the meeting various decision were taken like constituting of Preion Audit Committee (PAC) in each district and sub-district hospital, advisory for doctors, and strengthening of grievance redressal mechanism.<br />'' <br />'' It was disclosed that the preion audit will be started at district hospitals and sub-district hospitals. The designated nodal officer at the health facility will collect one percent of the preion copies of Out Patient Departments on random basis that will be audited by the PAC constituting of officials from the administrative department excluding the consultants.<br />'' <br />'' Dulloo said that preion audit shall be conducted of doctors working in the government hospitals to ensure that the doctors are properly following the ethical guidelines. The audit will also ensure that there is no contravention to the provisions of the Drug and Cosmetic Act and Regulations, while writing the preions.<br />'' <br />''<br />''The audit will also ensure that no unnecessary diagnostic tests are prescribed and no unnecessary referrals to higher centers were made. He also directed the officers to conduct workshops to educate the doctors of their moral duties and responsibilities towards their patients and make them aware of what is covered in unethical acts and what constitutes a professional misconduct. He also stressed on strengthening of the grievance redressal mechanism and said that district hospitals, medical colleges should nominate a grievance redressal officer for the speedy redressal of the issues of the public.</span><br />
