J&K Govt high on power upgradation: minister

<br/>In Jammu and Kashmir, Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmed Khan has said that Government is paying focused attention for upgradation of Power Sector in the State. During his visit to various Grid Stations of Jammu and Rajouri districts, he said, work on several new Power Projects and high transmission lines is being taken up to overcome power shortage. Mr. Khan said, the capacity of some Grid Stations would be upgraded to improve the power supply in various areas of Jammu and Rajouri districts.<br/><br/>The Minister inspected construction work of 53 KM long New High Transmission Double Phase Line from Akhnoor to Siot, Rajouri which is expected to be completed by end of December this year at an estimated cost of 26 crore rupees. The laying of this Transmission Line would improve power scenario in Rajouri district to a large extent .Mr. Shabir said that work on 50 MVA’s Power Grid Stations at Siot, Katra and Pouni Chak has been taken up at a total estimated cost of 50 Crore rupees on turnkey basis and the project is expected to be completed by end of next fiscal.
