In Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has intensified intra-party consultations over possible alliances for Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of discussions with State Governor N N Vohra which are likely this week.
For the first time after election results were declared, the PDP patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed yesterday held deliberations with his newly elected legislators over government formation in the state. On the other hand, BJP has ruled out re-elections and imposition of Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
BJP general secretary and in-charge J&K affairs Ramesh Arora said that re-elections or the imposition of governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir can in no way be the solution of the issue. He said that efforts are on for the sustainable government in the state for next six years.
According to the BJP, the people of the state have given mandate to the political parties to govern for the six years and if their aspirations are not taken into account, then any move other than the formation of the new government could be against the sentiments of the people. BJP maintained further that the party has only set three conditions for the alliance with any other political camp for making of the new government. First that the sovereignty of India can in no way be compromised.
Second that priority must be given to the development of the state and third equal share of funds and development for all the three regions of the State. Arora said the state unit of BJP has authorized its high command to take final decision on the alliance in J&K and expressed hope that soon a breakthrough will be achieved. Meanwhile, BJP has taken a dig at National Conference and Congress for offering support to PDP for the formation of non-BJP Government.
Describing it a mere drama , the BJP has said that the move of NC and Congress amounts to undermining the democratic verdict of the people of the state.
