J&K govt formation: PDP claims no preconditions but Centre must take steps to build confidence

In Jammu & Kashmir, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said there were no preconditions from its side and the party will not stake claim to form government in the State unless the central government announces some confidence-building measures (CBMs) for the state. <br/><br/>PDP legislator advocate Firdous Tak told reporters in Jammu that his Party only want implementation of the already agreed upon agenda of alliance.<br/><br/>Yesterday, after meeting Governor PDP President had urged its alliance partner BJP and central govt for creating congenial atmosphere which would give fillip to the new govt. PDP President Mehbooba Mufti had called for initiating confidence Building Measures (CBMs) before the formation of government in the State. <br/><br/>After PDP President's meeting, the State BJP President Sat Sharma had also briefed the Governor about their viewpoint on the govt formation in the State. <br/><br/>Later, Dr Nirmal Singh told reporters that BJP was committed to Agenda of Alliance and sought ten days for taking final call on govt formation.<br/>Mehbooba also had an hour-long meeting with senior BJP leader Dr Nirmal Singh, who was deputy chief minister during her father Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's 10-month-long PDP -BJP rule.<br/><br/>The Governor had summoned Ms Mufti and BJP state president Satpal Sharma to discuss with him the matters related to government formation. Governor's Rule was imposed in J&K on January 8, a day after Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed passed away. <br/><br/>Former state chief minister and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha,Ghulam Nabi Azad said the alliance partners PDP and Bharatiya Janata Party must quickly decide about the government formation in the state. <br/>National Conference provincial president Devender Singh Rana said PDP and BJP created political uncertainty and constitutional crisis in Jammu and Kashmir.
