J&K govt formation: Core group of J&K BJP to meet Shah

The members of core group of Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP will meet party’s national president Amit Shah in New Delhi tomorrow to discuss about formation of government in the state. The latest political situation and emerging alignments for the government formation in the state are likely to be discussed in the meeting. Mr. Shah has recently said in Bengaluru that the BJP is looking at all possibilities and hoped that a decision will come anytime.

On the other hand, Peoples Democratic Party's chief spokesman Naeem Akhtar said that the no formal talks have been initiated for government formation so far with any political party. He said that the back channel contacts and consultations are going on. National Conference working president Omar Abdullah has tweeted that his party is not discussing any sort of alliance with the BJP. In the House of 87, BJP has emerged as the second largest party with the strength of 25 MLAs. PDP is the single largest party with 28 MLAs while National Conference and Congress have the strength of 15 and 12 Legislators, respectively in the Assembly. State Governor N N Vohra has set 19th January deadline for formation of the government in the state.
