Observing that Jammu and Kashmir Government has been following a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and human rights violations, J&K Governor N.N Vohra today said it will continue to maintain utmost vigil in the area of internal security. In his address to a joint session of the State Legislature on commencement of budget session in Jammu today, the Governor said that it is a matter for considerable satisfaction that, with the maintenance of peace and calm during summer 2011 a record number of tourists visited the valley. He said that as the security situation stabilised, the Government took steps to reduce the visible presence of the security forces, particularly in urban areas. Sh. Vohra said that State Government remains committed to the return of Kashmiri migrants to the Valley adding that in a major step aimed at their return and rehabilitation in the Valley, 3000 supernumerary posts were created under the Prime Minister’s package for their employment in the Valley. In addition to this, the Government with financial assistance from Government of India developed the Jagti township near Nagrota with a view to provide better living conditions to Kashmiri migrants.”””
