The Jammu and Kashmir Government today said that the it is committed to hold the Panchayati Elections in the state as soon as possible so that the democratic institutions get strengthened at the grass root level. To oversee holding of the Panchayati Elections and also deliberate on the Panchayati Raj act in the State while addressing a meeting at Jammu today, the Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Rural Development, Panchayats, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ali Mohammed Sagar said that it is the endeavour of the government to provide good and effective governance to the people that too at the grass root level and holding of Panchayati Elections would ensure the participation of the people living in rural areas in the policy implementation as well as oversee the various departmental process undertaken by the government. AIR Correspondent, Yogesh Sharma reports that Mr. Sagar said that by setting and empowering panchayats the various flagships schemes of the centre as well as the state would get a fillip. He said that it would ensure proper utilization of funds meant for the development of the rural and far flung areas of the state. The meeting was also attended by several legislators which include Mr. Vijay Bakaya, Abdul Rehman Veer, Mir Saifullah. <br/>
