Jammu and Kashmir government is according top priority to providing employment to the youth. It has created a concrete data-base about the un-employed youth. The government has asked officials to reach out to the youth at their doorsteps to widen scope of the Sher-i-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) for optimum benefit. J&K Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather who reviewd the progress of the scheme, said that it moving in a right direction. Describing the schemes as a flagship programme of J&K on employment, the Minister said it is absolutely necessary to bring youth of the far-flung and remote areas also in the ambit of the programme. He said the scheme has tremendous potential for providing dignified and lucrative job avenues. State Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar said that various Rural Development Schemes apart from providing much needed employment to the people, have the potential to change the socio-economic scenario of rural andfar-flung areas. The Minister said this after reviewing implementation of Swaranjayanti Gram Sarozgar Yojana.
