J&K gets Rs 1, 467-cr grant for road projects

The Centre has sanctioned Rs 1,467 crore under 7th phase of Prime Ministers’ Gram Sarak Yojna (PMGSY) to take forward the road projects in Jammu and Kashmir on a massive scale. This was stated by J&K Minister for Roads and Buildings, G.M Saroori in Jammu. <br/> <br/>He said that Centre has been paying special attention with regard to the development of infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir , particularly, towards providing road connectivity to each and every village in the border State having population of 250 or more. <br/> <br/>He added that adequate funds are being provided to enable the State Government to take up massive road connectivity works in far flung areas. He said that better road connectivity is a key to socio economic development and in pursuance to this objective; various ambitious projects have been taken up across the State. <br/> <br/>The minister said that developmental works are being carried out on war footing to ensure timely completion of the projects. He also directed the concerned officers to submit their projects well in time for approval under various schemes so that the works can be initiated on time.<br/> <br/>
