In Jammu & Kashmir, a fresh batch of over 2400 Yatris including 539 women left Bhagwati Nagar Jammu base camp through 300 Km Srinagar-Jammu national highway this morning. <br/><br/>Of these, 1573 Yatris were Pahalgam Base Camp bound while 857 yatris proceeded towards Baltal Base Camp. They will reach their respective camps in the late night hours. The Amarnath Yatra is in progress from both Baltal route in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district and Pahalgam route in south Kashmir's Anantnag district.<br/><br/>The 40 day annual Yatra commenced on June 29 and will conclude of 7th August, the Shrawan Purnima day coinciding with Raksha Bandhan festival. AIR Correspondent reports that at the end of 12 days of Yatra, around One Lakh 46 thousand 700 Yatris had darshan of ice lingam till this evening. <br/><br/>Around 12 thousand Yatris paid obeisance at the Holy cave of Amarnath today. A multi-layered security arrangement has been put in place that is manned by the Army, CRPF, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), BSF and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. 14 pilgrims have died during this year's Yatra so far.
