J&K: Free stationery kits to under-privileged girls amid COVID-19 lockdown

<span style="color: #222222;">In Jammu and Kashmir, District Level Centre for Women (DLCW), Rajouri has taken an initiative of distribution of stationery items among needy girl students under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme in wake of continued Lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.<br />''<br />''AIR correspondent reports that the Women Welfare Officer, Rajouri Anum Mirza came forward with the initiative to provide free stationery kits among girl students of under-privileged section of various Panchayats of the district as the education of these girl students has affected due to closure of schools amidst COVID-19 lockdown and poverty is the another reason which restrict them to have even the basic education. The study kit includes stationery items like notebooks, pencil box, Pens, sharpeners, erasers and instrument box.<br />''<br />''Earlier, a team of Mahila Shakti Kendra, Rajouri undertook a survey and shortlisted some poor girl students of some Panchayats of the district and the stationary material was distributed among them.<br />''<br />''Ms Mirza said that, empowerment will come only when we educate the girl child as an educated girl has the ability to bring socio-economic changes and contribute towards the prosperity and development of country. She further said that the importance of girl's education should never be over-looked as they are the future of mankind. Every girl that receives education is more likely to make education a priority for her children as well. </span><br />
