Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the flood situation in Jammu region at a high-level meeting attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and top officials.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister, Omar sought additional rescue material for the flood-hit and the need to commence air rescue operations in view of the grim situation.
Modi, who arrived in Jammu this morning, held the meeting at Jammu’s Technical Airport and was briefed by the Chief Minister Mr. Abdullah on the devastation caused by the floods.
Prime Minister shares pain and anguish of people of Jammu and Kashmir; said floods are national level disaster.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister announces special assistance of 1,000 crore rupees to flood-affected Jammu and Kashmir.
He said Army has been asked to help in repairing bridges in the state damaged in the floods.
Mr. Modi also said India is ready to provide assistance to Pakistan to deal with the flood-ravaged areas of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
