Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said, more than one lakh thirty thousand people have been rescued by the Armed Forces in Jammu and Kashmir so far. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, he said the Centre is taking immediate and pro-active action in rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected State.
He assured that there will be no shortage of relief materials in the State. He said, a scheme for mainstreaming civil defence in disaster risk reduction has been launched.
On Left wing extremism, the Minister said comprehensive policies are being framed to weed out the menace. He said policies to tackle extremism in various parts of the country like Jammu and Kashmir, North East and Central India are also being given a final shape. Mr Singh, said paramilitary and other forces are being strengthened to increase their operational efficiency.
He said an integrated action plan for strengthening internal security has been prepared after consultations with all stakeholders.
Rajnath Singh said, the government has been successful in ending the economic blockade in Manipur in seven days. He said the authenticity of Al Qaeda video threatening to launch its branch in the Indian subcontinent is being verified.
He said ban on SIMI will continue for another five years. He said security challenges arising out of withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan are also being taken into account.
