J&K floods: More than 76 thousand people evacuated

More than 76 thousand people have been evacuated by the Armed Forces and NDRF in Jammu and Kashmir, so far.

A Defence Ministry statement issued in New Delhi today said, more relief materials including cooked food,water bottles, tents, two thousand hospital bedsheets and blankets are being airlifted today to the flood-hit state.

79 transport aircraft and helicopters have been pressed into service.

Five task forces of Border Roads Organisation, which include 5700 personnel, are trying to restore the road connectivity in the state. The personnel have restored the road connectivity between Batote-Kishtwar and Kishtwar-Sinthan pass.

Meanwhile, Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag reviewed the flood situation in Jammu and Kashmir. General Suhag also took stock of the rescue and relief operations by the armed forces in the flood-ravaged state.
