An encounter is on between militants and security forces inside a government building in Pampore near Srinagar in Kashmir. Some militants had entered the building of Entrepreneurship Development Institute in the wee hours today and fired upon the security forces triggering an encounter. An Army jawan was injured in the exchange of fire. A portion of the building also caught fire. Traffic was temporarily suspended on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that a joint operation is on to neutralise the militants. Two to three militants are believed to be inside the multistorey concrete building now cordoned off by security forces from all sides. Intetmitently gunshots are heard as senior police and army officers are on spot monitoring the operation. <br/><br/>It seems the militants have come from rear side of the building using a boat to cross river JEHLIM. It is the same entrepreneurs development institute complex where a 48 hour long encounter took place on 22 nd feburuary this year in which nine people had died including three millants and three army jawans.

Two to three militants are believed to have entered the building of Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) in the wee hours today and fired upon the security forces triggering an encounter. <br/><br/>Quoting a Defence Spokesman, news agency PTI reports that a soldier has been injured in the exchange of fire. The firing was going on, when reports last came in, and a portion of the building has caught fire. The operation to flush out the militants is in progress. <br/><br/>Traffic was temporarily suspended on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway. Militants had targeted the EDI building in February this year as well. Two soldiers and an employee of the institute were killed in that operation. Three militants were gunned down.

DIG Police South Kashmir told air that the encounter started when militants fired on security forces from a government building near entrepreneur development institute. <br/><br/>The intermittent exchange of fire was going on, when reports last came in, and a portion of building has caught fire. Security forces have cordoned off the area. Traffic was temporarily suspended on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
