J&K drought-affected villages to get free ration

In Jammu and Kashmir, 124 drought-affected villages of Kupwara district will get free ration from today. These villages were identified after drought assessment committee's report that Kupwara district is worst hit by 2009 continuous dry spell. In a meeting, it was decided that government ration card holders of the drought affected villages would get 35 kilogram rice free of cost during three months from January 2010.
