Curfew was relaxed in some localities of border town of Rajouri in Jammu Kashmir today from 6 p.m for one hour which was later extended by half an hour. The relaxation period passed off peacefully and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere during the relaxation period. According to District Commissioner, Rajouri, G.A . Khawaja, curfew will be relaxed in other localities of the town in phased manner.Earlier, the issues was raised in the J&K legislative by members of various political parties who said that situation of the Rajouri should not be politicized. Later, Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone directed the government that a team of Ministers be sent to Rajouri where they will meet representatives of both communities to defuse the situation. He urged for maintaining of communal harmony in the region.District administration Rajouri convened a meeting of prominent citizens of Rajouri and leaders of various communities today and sought their help in restoring peace and normalcy in the town. The leaders assured the district administration that they will work for restoration of peace , normalcy and strengthening of communal harmony and brotherhood in the town. After this meeting, district administration decided to give relaxation in curfew in phased manners. As reported earlier curfew was imposed in the town on Thursday morning following eruption of tension in the town when some unidentified elements pelted stones on a religious procession which led to clashes between two groups.
