The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has strongly condemned the militant attack on an Army base in Uri today. <br/><br/>Expressing her anguish, she said it appeared to be aimed at triggering fresh violence and creating a war-like situation in the region. <br/><br/>The Chief Minister paid rich tributes to the 17 slain soldiers and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Mehbooba Mufti also prayed for early recovery of those injured in the attack. <br/><br/>The Chief Minister said the perpetrators of violence must understand that violent methods have yielded nothing in the past nor will these yield anything in future except adding to the miseries of the people.<br/><br/>The Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar also condemned the Uri attack. He said the country will never forget the supreme sacrificies made by the army jawans.
