J&K: Camp on Honey sale and its distribution inaugurated in Baramulla

<span style="color: #222222;">In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a day-long camp on Honey sale and its distribution was inaugurated today by Deputy  Commissioner Dr. G. Itoo at Apiculture Division at Khawjabagh in Baramulla. It was the first-ever sale camp organized in Baramulla district.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Itoo lauded the role of Agriculture Department for taking Baramulla as the leading district in honey production. <br />''<br />''He called upon the concerned officials to extend their cooperation and involve more farmers especially the unemployed youth under various welfare programmes sponsored by the department so that they can avail benefits for their sustainable livelihood. He also said that at least three villages of Baramulla district to be adopted as 'Honey Villages' where emphasis shall be given on apiculture production.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, Chief Agriculture Officer Mohammad Yousuf Shah informed that about 250 beekeepers are registered in Baramulla district and are producing  about 250 quintals of honey annually. He said that the honey is harvested three times in a year and in current spring harvesting season about 74 quintals of honey was produced.</span><br />''
